About Us

The Sci Fi Book Club was founded in 2014 as a way to explore the connections between classic and contemporary science fiction.

Our diverse community of more than 1,800 members is engaged and brings with it a wide variety of expertise and experience. With linguists, scientists, authors, visual artists, movie buffs, and other thinkers all reading the same book, our monthly meeting is always a vibrant and insightful way to work through our monthly selection. Our Discord community is a place for our members to connect and share outside of our scheduled Meetups.

We are working to offer more opportunities for in-person get-togethers but you can expect our monthly Book Club Meetings to continue to be remote. With members all across the northeast, we want to be sure that everyone who wants to can still join the conversation about our monthly book selection. Previous events have included invitation-only movie premieres, film festival jurying and screenings, and symposium invitations.

Interested in joining or learning more about upcoming selections? The Sci Fi Book Club uses Meetup to communicate about upcoming events. Join up and see what we're all about!

How does Book Club Work?

Club members have one month to read the book the group has agreed on. We meet via Zoom on the third Sunday of each month to talk about our reading and all things sci fi. Our hope is that members will come ready to contribute to the conversation both with their thoughts on the given book and with any insight into related media that might inform our discussion.

You do not have to have finished the book to come to the meeting. We hope to see you, either way, there's always plenty to talk about!
